Duolingo Max
Duolingo's top subscription tier with AI features like Explain My Answer, Roleplay and Video Call.
What is Duolingo Max?
Duolingo Max is the highest subscription tier of the Duolingo language learning app. It adds AI-powered features on top of the standard lessons, such as explanations of your mistakes, roleplay conversations with characters and video calls with an AI character for speaking practice.
Duolingo's core app teaches languages through short lessons. The biggest gap for many learners is real conversation practice and understanding why an answer was wrong. Max uses AI to address both.
Explain My Answer gives a short explanation of grammar or vocabulary after a mistake. Roleplay lets you practice realistic scenarios, like ordering food or planning a trip, by chatting with characters and getting feedback. Video Call simulates speaking practice with an AI character.
Max also includes the benefits of the Super tier, such as no ads. Feature availability depends on the language course and platform.
